Monday, June 21, 2004 Our holiday begins! We (Mary Jane, her twin sister Jan, Dan, and Scotty) fly from Harrisburg, PA to Dulles (Washington, D.C.) to Heathrow, London.
Tuesday, June 22, 2004 We arrive at Heathrow Airport, London, England, at 7:00 a.m. local time. We drive to our B&B (Pro Kew, in Kew, near London). We walk around Kew Village and rest at B&B. Our schedule for the day: we ride the Tube into London and visit King's Cross Station (location of Platform 9 3/4 in Harry Potter movies). We tour the Exhibition Galleries of the British Library, location of such famous documents as the Magna Carta and the Gutenberg Bible. We attend a stage production of the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Palladium Theatre.
Wednesday, June 23, 2004 We ride "The Eye" in London, tour parts of the British Museum [British Museum 2 British Museum 3 British Museum 4], and shop at Lillywhite’s in Piccadilly Circus.
Thursday, June 24, 2004 On our final day in London, we tour the new Globe Theatre and pay a visit to Harrod's Department Store. We drive to Bristol in time to watch England play Portugal in the “Euro 2004” games.

In Bristol, we visit our friends
Liz and Mon, and Eileen and Brian. We
had hoped to visit with Malcolm and Margaret, but Margaret is too sick at the
moment for company. We walk on and
photograph the Clifton Suspension
Bridge.
Saturday, June 26,
2004 We visit Bath and have lunch there.
We drive across the Severn Bridge into Wales to tour Chepstow
Castle and see Tintern Abbey.

We visit Stonehenge and Salisbury.
Tuesday, June 29,
2004 We stop at the House of Marbles in Bovey Tracey. We visit
Dartmoor National Park.
We see Dartmoor ponies and the village of
Widecombe-in-the-Moor. We hike up a
tor for the neat view and drive to Postbridge.
Wednesday, June 30,
2004 In Gloucester, we delight in all the Harry Potter movie venues
in Gloucester Cathedral. We
climb up to Belas Knap, the best-preserved Long Barrow in Europe. We drive to York.
Thursday, July 1,
2004 We see many things in York today: Castle Museum, Clifford's Tower, the Shambles, York Minster, Jorvik
Viking Center, and walk part of the medieval walls of the city.
Friday, July 2, 2004 We drive to the city of Durham. In Durham Cathedral, we see the tomb of the Venerable Bede. Driving north, we see Chesters Roman Fort, Hadrian's Wall and Housesteads Roman Fort.
Saturday, July 3,
2004 At Nottingham, Edwinstowe, and Sherwood Forest, we immerse ourselves in
the "Robin Hood" legend. A second web
page on Robin Hood Country. We drive to
Warwick.
Sunday, July 4, 2004 We visit Warwick Castle. A second web page on Warwick Castle.We then drive to Oxford and explore this university town.
Monday, July 5, 2004 We drive to London Heathrow Airport (40 mi). We fly back home from London, 12:20 p.m. We arrive in Harrisburg, 6:18 p.m.
