Jackson Family History Book Project
The book Jackson Brigade Family Histories 2008 is now available.

     As part of the Jackson Brigade's Reunion 2008 on Saturday August 2, 2008 in Zanesville, Ohio, the reunion organizers Jane Hilder and Dan Hyde have initiated a new book project.  This Jackson Family History 2008 book will be distributed at Reunion 2008.

 

      Each family is asked to write a maximum of two sides of a sheet of paper* on their family history.  We are requesting three parts to this history.

 

1. History of yourself, your spouse, children and parents. This should include full names, locations of where people live (City and State) and other material.  We suggest including occupations, military service, public service, advanced education, church affiliation, when and why moved, major events in life, interesting hobbies, amusing family anecdotes, etc.  The idea is to write information and stories not found on the typical family group sheets.

 

2. Repeat for other ancestors who descend from John and Elizabeth Cummins Jackson, e.g., grandparent, great-grandparent, great-great grandparent, etc.

 

3. Trace your lineage back to John and Elizabeth Cummins Jackson.  List the ancestor and kinship for each.  For example, Dan would list: Mary Ellen Hall (mother), Charles Rowland Hall (Grandfather), John Elijah Hall (g-grandfather), Mary Elizabeth Arnold (gg-grandmother), Prudence Jackson (ggg-grandmother), George Jackson (gggg-grandfather), John Jackson (ggggg-grandfather).

 

      You need not attend Reunion 2008 in Zanesville to participate.  We are encouraging all descendants of John and Elizabeth Cummins Jackson to participate.     Copies will be shipped after the Reunion for an additional small fee.  Estimated cost of the book is $12 to $15 a copy.

 

      Deadline for materials is June 1^st, 2008 (Deadline Extended to June 27th!).  We strongly prefer email submissions.  Send as email attachments to Dan at hyde@bucknell.edu  The text may be submitted as a MS Word document, a PDF document or plain text.  Text should be in 12 pt font with one-inch left and right margins.  You may submit several photos to be on the two pages.  Photos should be in JPEG format.  Individuals without email access may send material to

      For those who may find writing a one or two-page history daunting, we are able to help you write the prose from a filled out worksheet.  Since we would like 100% participation of the more than 100 known families of this Jackson line, we are willing to put in the extra effort to help you write and edit!
