Greek Mythology

By: Adon Shapiro

Overview

For my IS-AS project this year, my research topic was Greek Mythology. My three questions were:
  1. How many Greek Gods are there and what do they represent?
  2. What kinds of Mythological creatures are there and what do they do?
  3. Who were some of the major heroes and what did they do?
These are some things I have learned through my research.
  1. There are never more than twelve major Gods residing on Mt. Olympus at one time and there are a few variable Gods and minor divinities.
  2. Pegasus is a winged horse, Cerberus is the giant three-headed dog who guards the entrance to the underworld, and the Gorgons are the three sisters who are so ugly that a man turns to stone if he looks at their faces.
  3. In Greek Mythology, a hero is someone who either has done some sort of monumental deed, has a god for a parent in addition to a mortal one, or both.
Greek Mythology is a very interesting topic (although not very believable), and if I had more time, I would do much more research. Anyway, here is my website about Greek Mythology! For more information, see my powerpoint below. Enjoy!
