Faculty Governance
Ad Hoc Committee to Compose Charge to New Standing Committee on Information
Services and Resources
History
The ad hoc Committee to Review Faculty
Governance began work in September 2004, and presented a
report to the faculty at the
February 2005 meeting of the Faculty. The issues raised in the report were
discussed in an Open Forum on Governance held February 14.
(See the
Minutes of the Open Forum for details.)
Specific motions arising from the report and discussion were brought to
the Faculty in the spring of 2005. In the April 2005 meeting the
faculty endorsed the review committee's suggestion that "a new
Faculty Committee on Information Services and Resources should be
constituted; the present advisory committees on academic computing
and on the library should either report to the new committee, or be
absorbed by it." The review committee suggested that the
Faculty Council
oversee the process of amending the Faculty Handbook
to include the new committee. The Faculty Council will be appointing
an ad hoc committee to develop the charge and composition of the
committee. The proposed charge and compositions will be brought to the
faculty as a part of the ongoing governance review. The process has
been slowed by the vacancy in the leadership of ISR.
