George Jackson's Grave
When George Jackson died in 1831 he asked to be buried on his farm. The grave stone still stands on a small drive named "Colonel Jackson Drive" off of Newark Road (Route 146) about a mile northwest of Zanesville.
The site is on private property in the backyard of Wayne Clark, 3355 Colonel Jackson Drive, who has taken upon himself to maintain the stone by mowing the grass and beautifying the site with mulch and flowers.
It is impossible to tell if there are other graves there. We were told that George was buried between his two wives, so perhaps there are field stones or other markers nearby. We suspect that several family members who died as infants are also buried nearby.
Wayne has given us permission to cross his backyard to visit George Jackson's grave any time we like.

It is unknown when the stone was set. Certainly before 1933, since the inscription is repeated in the 1933 Jackson Reunion minutes. We assume the stone was set soon after George's death in 1831.
