Wallace Adrian Birchill, 91 Died February 18, 2004. He was born August 10, 1912 in the small town of Govan, Lincoln County, Washington to John and Clara Wallace Birchill. He was united in marriage with Edna Emily Miller on January 1, 1941. Wallace farmed his Grandmother's wheat land. It was located just above Grand Coulee Dam in Central Washington State. He spent two years as a Motor Mechanic in the United States Coast Guard. He and the others on his crew were cruising the Lake above the Dam and guarding the Dam.
He worked for the U. S. Soil Conservation Service. At that time, he worked with the farmers in the area helping them solve problems about crop rotation, drain areas of land with an abundance of table water, and with the high school class of future farmers. He worked for a short time with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
He was a member of the Bulah Chapter of Order Of Eastern Star, a life member of The Washington State Grange and during his life held most of the offices starting out in Juvenile Grange. He is owner of Automobile policy # 1 (one) with Washington State Grange Insurance Co.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna Miller Birchill of King City, Oregon; two sons and their wives Eugene W. Birchill and James A. Birchill; two grandchildren J. J. Birchill and Julia Swansom Birchill; one great-grandson Cameron James Birchill; a brother Theodore J. and wife Helen, who live at Ridge Manor, Florida; and a sister Florice Herdrich, who lives in Spokane, Washinton.
A memorial service was held on February 28th, 2004 in King City, Oregon. His ashes were placed in Lincoln County, Washington on the family farm over looking the Columbia River where he was born.
