Pickering, Ray R.

Fairport: Saturday, April 5, 2008, at age 56. Ray is predeceased by his father, Stanley "Red" Pickering. Ray is survived by his wife JennyLee Smallman; daughter and husband, Erin and Jason Nye; son, Michael Pickering and Lisa Heberger; mother, Betty Jane Pickering; brothers and sisters: Alan and wife, Pam Pickering, Gerald and wife, Charlene Pickering, Barbara and husband, Tim Haag, Linda Pickering; former wife, Sharon Hatch; mothers-in-law and father-in-law, Gary W. Smallman and wife, Penny; Karen F. Smallman; Cindy Lee Smallman-Rosettie, sister-in-law, Stephanie L. Smallman, brother-in-law, Scott M. Smallman; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray was a retired 25-year veteran of the Town of Greece Police Department. He served as a Patrol Sergeant and was a Bomb Squad Technician, Range Sergeant, and member of the Scuba Diving squad. He was a life member of Fishers Fire Department and a former First Assistant Fire Chief. Ray was an Air Force veteran who attended the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO and continued to fly as a civilian pilot. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Friends may call Wednesday afternoon 1 - 3:30, at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Victor. A private family memorial celebration of Ray's life will follow the calling. Linda says her cousin Ray Pickering is the son of Betty Brake and Stanley Pickering, of the Ohley Brake line and a descendant of Rachel Jackson.
