DIED IN OKLAHOMA
Remains of Mrs. Elvira Davis Brought to Old Home for Funeral Services
The remains of Mrs. Elvira Davis, who passed away at her home near Chandler, Okla., Friday, Nov. 10th, were brought to this city Saturday evening, Nov. 11th, and taken to the Geo. R. Hearne undertaking parlors. On Sunday the body was conveyed to the Elm Tree church, where funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Morgan Webb officiating. Burial was in Holland cemetery.
Mrs. Davis had been bedfast for the past two months, and during her illness, her son, Edward and wife, of this vicinity, visited her in her home. She was aged 74 years, 8 months and 7 days, at the time of her death. She was born in Hancock county, and on Dec. 18, 1856, was married to Diurnal Davis, having made her home in this county until after the death of her husband, when she moved to Quincy, where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John Slusher. About ten years ago she went to Oklahoma, filing on a homestead, where she has since made her home, her grandson, Harry Slusher, living with her.
Mrs. Davis leaves surviving, her son, Edward Davis, of East Carthage; her daughters, Mrs. Carrie Pomeroy, and Mrs. Fern Gray, of Chandler, Okla., two daughters, Mrs. Dr. McCowen and Mrs. John Slusher, having preceded her in death. She also leaves surviving one sister, Mrs. Aurelia Helms of this city, and three half-sisters, Mrs. Sidney Powell of St. Marys; Mrs. Jay Graves and Mrs. Joe Martin, both of Spokane, Wash.
The body was accompanied by H. O. Gray and Harry Slusher, of Chandler, Okla.
