Rules - Under construction

1. Cost

The cost is $8 per person, which covers the cost of weekly stats from Total Quality Stats, plus whatever additional costs if we decide to create a league trophy. The stats will be posted promptly each Friday on the web site, and also sent out via email. The trophy will be dicussed in the weeks following the draft. After we've decided on the amount, checks should be made out to Ben Vollmayr-Lee and mailed to

2. Draft

The league draft will be held Friday, March 31 at 7:00 PM Eastern time. Each of the 8 participants will draft 23 players in a sequence of rounds. Any position may be drafted at any round, but the 23 players must fill the following requirements: Most players are assumed to be eligible for a single position only (here we differ from many leagues). Just because a someone plays a single game at shortstop doesn't qualify them as a shortstop. However, some players do have multiple positions. When there is doubt over which positions a player eligible for, we will have a quick discussion and a vote.

3. Scoring and Categories

In keeping with last year, there are 10 categories for scoring. The 5 hitting categories are

batting average, runs, home runs, runs batted in, stolen bases,

and the 5 pitching categories are

wins, saves, strikeouts, ERA, ratio=(hits+walks)/IP

In a given category the totals for each team are ranked, and then points are assigned: 8 for 1st, 7 for 2nd, ..., 1 for 8th. In case of a tie, the points are averages, e.g. a tie for first gives both 7.5 points.

4. Replacements and Transactions

This is the tricky subject. In order to be replaced on the roster, a player must be either injured (on the DL), sent to the minors, traded to the AL, retired, ..., that's all I can think of. In these circumstances a new player is chosen from those available, with the requirement that the positions all be filled.

There is an additional roster spot available for an injured player. I'll try to write up coherent rules on this soon.
